December 26, 2017
Hello to the friends of The Jazz Sanctuary,
On December 3rd I mailed our annual year end appeal and once again two of our sponsors will match all donations made in December 2017 and January 2018. All donors will have their names posted on both the 2017 and 2018!
The Jazz Sanctuary will end this year with having performed at 57 events with (and I can’t believe this) 37 events confirmed for 2018 and requests for an additional 6 more – hey folks it’s December of 2017 and look where we are! We are moving towards a balance of 1/3 of our events for charitable organizations with 2/3 for houses of worship. Our Council for the Brain Injured series continues (we’re asking for another grant) and our music instruction is finally (FINALLY!) getting off the ground.
As of today (01/05/18) we have received donations of $4,435.00 which will be matched.
We celebrate our 400th event at Trinity Church Buckingham on 1/11/18.
In today’s world, with little middle ground and the commonality of our national spirit set aside for tribalism music stands out as a glowing example of what binds us as a people. It is very important for all of us that music be offered at a venue with little or no cost where we can join together without rancor to enjoy the music and friendship.
The Jazz Sanctuary will make every effort to continue it’s mission and that, my friends, depends on your contributions as much as it depends on our musicianship.
Please join us and make a contributions today which will be matched!
Donations can be made via our website: DONATIONS
All of us at the Jazz Sanctuary wish you and your families a healthy, peaceful, and prosperous holiday and New Year!
Experience the Art of Jazz
You’ll notice two changes to our website and handouts. First we have a new identification to go along with The Jazz Sanctuary: Experience the Art of Jazz. After all it is art isn’t it? I have no idea where the ideas come from or where the soloist gets the flash of brilliance, but it is there. Witness the wonderful playing of Larry McKenna who led us at last month’s event at Trinity Church Buckingham or Lynne Reilly’s playing at First United Methodist Church. It was the Art of Jazz experience that was absolutely wonderful. Let’s not forget Eddie, Leon, Randy and George all of whom give us their artistry nightly. And the second announcement? We have a new address: 2200 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy (#S 1006)! Speaking of art, the view from my new digs is the Philadelphia Art Museum.

That wonderful accomplishment has only been reached with the help of our sponsors, your contributions and of course you our wonderful audience!

I find it incumbent of me to make a plea for a donation. We simply cannot exist if our program is not supported. Some 40% of our funding comes from you, our wonderful audience. We are making our plans for a brilliant 2017 and I make this request so that we can fund the remainder of events scheduled for 2017.
If you haven’t signed up for the once monthly email, please do!
Thank you seems inadequate nonetheless “thanks to each and every person who made a contribution thus far.

Don’t forget to use our sponsors – without them (and you of course!) we wouldn’t be swinging along.
I look forward to hearing from you (email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org).
