[ezcol_1half][/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]BARRY SAMES is a seasoned pianist, composer, educator & producer, graduated from Temple University’s Esther Boyer College of music with a degree in jazz performance and studies in classical piano with Alexander Fiorillo. Since that time, Barry has explored many genres of music, performing, recording, ,writing and producing for many of Philadelphia’s top musicians. He has been a highly sought after jazz accompanist, and has also been classical accompanist for the Marian Anderson Society for various events. Mr. Sames’ many projects are broad in range, from Latin to World fusion to sacred jazz and Gospel , and have been heard in Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, Fels Planetarium and Painted Bride Arts center. Barry feels fortunate to have taken his music around the globe, and is equally inspired with the cultural exchange that takes place. He has performed with various jazz artists including John Blake, Houston Person, Alfredo Naranjo, Gerald Veasley, Marlon Simon, Monnette Sudler, Paul Winter, and many others.
Mr. Sames was jazz artist-in-residence at First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia in the late 1990’s, writing original works for choir, strings and utilizing musical talent from Philadelphia and New York. Barry was also very active in the Philadelphia Northwest local church circuit, playing Jazz vesper services throughout the 1990’s. In 2003 Barry attended UCLA’s film scoring program, where he studied film scoring and studio conducting. Since that time he has produced music for local artists, infomercials and independent documentaries in Philadelphia. Barry has recorded 4 Cds of his own. He is currently the Minister of Music at Saints Memorial Baptist Church in Bryn Mawr, PA, where he directs the Adult and youth choirs and ensemble. Barry is also active in music education. He was a teaching artist for MUSICOPIA from 2004-2009, and is presently a music educator in the Philadelphia Public School system. Mr. Sames attends Eastern University and plans to obtain a Masters Degree in Music Multicultural Education. He enjoys sharing his knowledge at the much needed secondary school level. Barry currently resides in Philadelphia with his two sons, and continues to make music both abroad and in the community.
