[ezcol_1half][/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]Carolyn’s singing career has taken her to over 75 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada, two tours to Spain and onto television where she sang on a weekly broadcast for two years. She formed her first jazz trio in college where she earned a degree in Vocal performance with a French minor and then moved to New York City where she continued to perform in clubs, landed appearances on One Life to Live and other daytime dramas and did numerous television commercials. The precision and artistry of Carolyn’s voice made her a natural in the studio where she spent many years on the recording scene doing jingles and background vocals on projects from pop to country to gospel and jazz.
Looking for a more traditional place to raise her son, Carolyn moved back to the Philadelphia area in the 90s where she continued to sing locally with a very active church music program. Concert work and recording followed and she did solo work and background vocals on two contemporary Christian worship CDs. Carolyn happened to walk in to a venue that was hosting a jazz jam session and her sit-in performance started a string of contacts with local musicians. Soon she was the featured vocalist with several Big Bands, gave a sold-out performance at Odette’s in New Hope, and ended up back in her old stomping ground of New York at the Rainbow Room fronting an 18-piece swing band.
Carolyn now has her own jazz trio and regularly plays out in the Philadelphia area. A student of language, Carolyn sings in five languages. Her appreciation and application of many styles of music influence Carolyn’s interpretations of the Great American songbook and jazz standard repertoire. Come a Little Closer is her first solo CD.
