Mission Statement
For women who have been through a crisis pregnancy and chosen life, many also make the difficult decision to keep their baby and raise the child alone. In Philadelphia and surrounding counties, young single mothers with newborn children then face the difficult issue of affordable housing. For these mothers, there is an urgent need to provide transitional housing with support services.
Cradle of Hope is a home for single mothers and children which offers housing and support services for six mothers and children for up to 18 months in the Philadelphia area. Located in Montgomery County, the home is directed by an eight-member board committed to the sanctity of human life. The board of directors, professionals in the areas of health, education, law and finance, operate the home as a commitment to stand behind the young woman who chooses to keep and raise her child, thus offering an alternative to abortion.
The mission of the Cradle of Hope is to minister to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of single mothers with financial need ages 18 and over and their children, ages 0 to 24 months. The residents follow a family centered program in which they are required to plan and cook meals, do chores and pay rent. They also attend workshops, Bible study and counseling. The goal is to enable mothers to get full-time employment and permanent housing. Cradle of Hope does not discriminate on the basis of age, race or religion.
Even in the face of very difficult financial and personal circumstances, the mothers at Cradle of Hope learn that God has a plan and purpose for every life. As they take small, slow steps towards self-sufficiency and independence, they grow in confidence and hope. As mothers have secured permanent housing and full-time jobs, the Cradle of Hope has experienced the success of a program that ministers to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of single mothers and children.
Cradle of Hope is a (501) (c) (3) organization. All gifts are tax deductible.
