Further the study of jazz to those who cannot afford the cost; the part of our mission that has been very difficult to fund and implement. In fact I have not been successful at all in that regard until this spring!
We gained a grant for $500.00 from CoBi – Council on Brain Injury – to supply “bucket drumming” classes to help increase hand/eye coordination. These classes will be taught by our wonderful drummer Leon Jordan Sr.
The very kind folks at Main Line Unitarian helped us out (after a bucket drumming demonstration) and donated $710.00 which was matched by Compass-Ion and Alan Segal, LLC for a grand total of $1,920.00 to help those inflicted with brain injuries.
And that’s not all. We raised an additional $ 1,312.00 for education (in general) which was matched for a total of $ 1,920.00.
Those funds are being “held” in board restricted funds to be used only for education purposes.
Now the programs will be written and a call for students and venues; all with the hope and work that we know will provide more funding for education.
Watch for more announcements as we move forward.
Peace,
Alan Segal
